WizGene Demonstrates AFPM Technology Through Collaboration with Ansys, Strengthening Position in Robotics Core Components Market
WizGene Co., Ltd., a next-generation mobility and robotics solutions company led by CEO Yoon Dong-guk, announced that it has demonstrated the competitiveness of its innovative Axial Flux Permanent Magnet motor technology through a collaboration program with Ansys, a global leader in engineering simulation. The achievement is expected to further strengthen WizGene’s position in the robotics core components market.
The company’s key milestone came from the successful completion of a project focused on the development of a high-performance, lightweight axial flux electric propulsion system based on Ansys simulation technology. Through the collaboration, WizGene received access to Ansys Motor-CAD software as well as the high-performance computing infrastructure required to operate the program. This support significantly improved both the speed and precision of WizGene’s technology development process.
By adopting Ansys Motor-CAD, WizGene was able to accelerate its proof-of-concept development for AFPM technology, applying it to a robot actuator tailored to the requirements of Company M. As a result, the company successfully developed a high-performance AFPM robot joint actuator prototype capable of delivering 2Nm of motor torque, with a peak torque of 4Nm. The prototype features a compact 80mm diameter, 40mm thickness, and an ultra-lightweight design weighing only 850g.
This technological advancement has created new opportunities for collaboration with robotics companies and has further enhanced WizGene’s core competitiveness. In particular, it has laid the foundation for the company to fully internalize key technologies across the value chain, from AFPM motor design to bidirectional controllers and flight controllers.
Building on the technology development system established through this global collaboration project, WizGene is also accelerating the expansion of high-reliability solutions essential for the future mobility and robotics markets. The company plans to combine its nearly completed AFPM motor technology with an AI-based Prognostics and Health Management system capable of diagnosing motor conditions in real time and predicting service life.
“Through this global corporate collaboration program, we were able to dramatically accelerate the development of next-generation motor technology and elevate our research capabilities to the next level,” said Yoon Dong-guk, CEO of WizGene. “With the newly introduced high-performance computing infrastructure, we now have a strong foundation to expand beyond AFPM into advanced control and predictive maintenance technologies. This also gives us greater expectations for follow-up programs and future investment opportunities.”
